There are several considerations when planning a backyard or garden project. We can help you make the right choices to ensure your garden shed, gazebo, cabana or bunkie will meet your needs for years to come.
Don’t hesitate to call us with any question. We will be happy to help in any way we can. And remember, there is never any pressure or obligation.
Here are five planning tips to get you started. They are location, size and style, use, material choice, cost and quality.
Tip 1
Choose the right location
Pick an area that suits the style and function of the structure you are building. Depending on the type of project it may be a focal point or may need to blend into the background. Corners are a great place for storage sheds. Gazebos or cabanas should integrate well with your landscaping and complement your patio deck or pool.
Tip 2
Select the right size
Draw a layout of the building and make a list of what will need to fit inside. For garden sheds or pool cabanas where storage space is important, an 8′x12′ outline is a good place to start. Likewise, if more than a few people will be using the gazebo, a 12’ model will provide plenty of space for a table and chairs. Both sizes are within allowable limits for most municipalities (108 square feet) and do not require permits.
Tip 3
Consider how it will be used
If your building will only used for storage then standard 2″x4″ construction with regular shed doors and windows will provide the best economy. If it will be used during the winter months as a studio, work shop or home office, 2″x6″ construction with insulated windows and doors will be needed and a little extra height will provide a lot more comfort.
Tip 4
Pick the right materials
Materials are very personal choices and are influenced by many factors including appearance, amount of maintenance, budget and functionality. Natural wood is beautiful but will need to be stained or painted and maintained regularly. Composite or vinyl sidings are very durable and need much less maintenance. Cedar Ridge uses a variety of quality materials to suit your needs and preferences.
Tip 5
Don’t sacrifice quality for price
We all need to be budget conscious, however, giving up quality for price is never a good idea. This is especially true when the cost difference is very little. A garden shed, pool cabana, gazebo or bunkie should provide many years of service. Cedar Ridge Outdoor Products offers high quality at very reasonable prices.
